It has been one year since Microsoft Security Essentials was made generally available to the public and to celebrate, we are pleased to share that there are now over 30 million customers in 74 different countries around the world enjoying the trusted security and quiet protection that Microsoft Security Essentials provides.

How to Delete files by Date

When you have huge number of files to handle every day and your archive is getting too messy deleting some older files is a good option. When I say older it can be of a specific date or a date range like first and last of February. I found an application which helps in doing  and the same can be done using WindowsSearch Feature which we will take a look later.

Deleting by Date Application :

This application is very straight forward. Once you launch it the query panel gives you option to :

• Search for all files or any particular file type
• Select a date range or a particular date.
• Modifier access : Created Date / Accessed Date and Modified Date.
• Size check to the exact but no range here.
• Add Multiple folders

Another advantage of using this interface is you can lock the application with a password making sure nobody else gets to delete files.

Orkut Attacked By Spam “Bom Sabado” But Those Using Older Version Of Orkut Not Affected

A spam has been detected on Orkut and this spam has send lots of scraps and these messages are in Portuguese language.

Now we know that Orkut is widely famous in Brazil and it is expected that Orkut has been hacked from that country. The message which is being received is ‘Bom Sabado’ which means Happy Saturday. So, it can be easily concluded that Orkut has been hacked from that country and lets see that how much will Google take to resolve this issue. you can follow the steps mentioned, if you have been affected by this problem or XSS attack.

• First of all change your version of Orkut, i.e. switch to the older version of orkut.
• Then sign out of your account.
• Now, delete the temporary files, browser’s cache and cookies. Sometimes it happens that by clicking on a link your cookie is transferred to the hackers location.
• Login to your account again and then change the password of your account and also change the security question of your account.

 Not only this, but this word which has been written in the scrap is among one of the most top searched keyword these days. So next time if you see this word written in your scrap, then in no time you should get the idea that your account has been hacked.

So, the most appropriate action can be waiting for the response of Google and till then try your best to stay away from Orkut and need not to worry as we will be updating about this news again and again and you will know when this issue will be resolved. E-Waste: The Dark Side of Technology

GUIYU, China – The wastes arrive here by sea transport, mainly from North America, Japan and South Korea.

GUIYU, CHINA. THE LARGEST E-WASTE SITE ON EARTH.

They sail across the Pacific Ocean in huge colorful containers and reach Hong Kong where they are moved into the storage areas of the largest commercial harbor in China, waiting before proceeding with their journey toward the Chinese hinterland.

During the day, along the terminal area leading to the dock, there is a constant coming and going of trucks commuting between the city and the rural areas of the Guangdong province.
That’s the place where dozens of millions of tons of electronic junk (e-waste) from all over the world are taken: computers, phones, televisions, printers, refrigerators and an infinite row of other obsolete devices destined to disposal or recovery of the precious metals inside their circuits.
Guiyu is a small town situated a few hours from Hong Kong. As soon as you leave the main road that cuts through the countryside and arrive in town, you can find yourself in a post-apocalyptic scenario where the only signs of civilization that remain are huge mountains of rubble made of tubes, plastic and silicon.
Guiyu is the largest electronic garbage collector in the world. Each year about 100,000 workers, including many children, are involved in the disposal operations and recovery of over 1.5 million tons of materials coming from the consumer technology industry, a quantity that is around 80% of the e-waste produced in a year by the entire China.
The processing of materials is performed using techniques that are not adequate and that over two decades have transformed this small plot of land located in the heart of China in one of the most polluted and unlivable areas of the planet.
In Guiyu the air you breathe leaves the taste of acid fumes in your mouth, resulting from uncontrolled combustion of plastics and metals. The water is not drinkable. The level of poisoning of groundwater has forced the authorities to prohibit even agricultural use. The incidence on the population of serious blood disorders and cancer is among the highest in the whole world.
Guiyu is just the most notorious example, but similar sites, according to a recent Greenpeace report, are located, in a more or less official way, in many other developing areas such as Pakistan, India and Nigeria. These are the landfills of the world, the places where every technologically obsolete device ends its life, and where all means are legitimate.
For the more developed countries they represent nothing more than an investment with a very low cost, a mere matter of economic convenience that also lowers internal environmental impact. The sum of shipping costs and the entire process of disposal is by far less than what it would take to deal with the same materials in their places of origin.
For the countries that do import such wastes, e-waste is merely a business opportunity that feeds a gloomy total market value estimated at millions of dollars every year and causing untold damage to the environment and the quality of life of the people involved.
Some years ago PlanetFunk shot the video of their popular song “Stop Me” in Guiyu. With this data in our hands, maybe it’s time to say “Please, stop”.

BlackBerry Tablet Launching Next Week

Till date our options for the tablet were good but now it has gone better or I should say that it will become better, once they will be releasing their tablet by next week.

There were some of the steps taken by RIM (Research In Motion), like RIM trademarked BlackPad and Surfbook and then it also signed with Taiwanese Notebook Manufacturing Company QUANTA for the production of around 200 million tablet device. Now these two initiative made by RIM directed our minds to think and then come to a conclusion that RIM might be producing a new tablet device, which will be coming as a new competitor in the race of various tablet device.

The name of this device has not been decided yet but I suppose the name will be any of BlackPad and Surfbook. Now this device will be capable of connecting the devices through Bluetooth, 3G and WiFi and it is expected that the screen size will be of 9.7 inches. Till now, they have not published all the specifications of this product but yes, I can assure you that they will not be going for Blackberry OS 6, then the question is that, which OS will be used by RIM for that tablet. No doubt, Blackberry OS 6 has been the latest OS for all the smartphone developed by Blackberry.

In April, this year RIM acquired QNX Software Systems for the production of OS for their tablets. QNX is known for its OS for embedded systems and this OS will be supporting the architecture like ARM, MIPS, Power PC and x86. Now it is recommended that this OS will be much simpler to use as compared to the OS which was developed by Blackberry for their smartphones. I would say that it was a good step as this OS will be like a surpise for all the users (who will be planning to buy tablet) it will be completely a new product whose OS is also unknown because it may happen that a user might reject the Blackberry tablet once he dislikes the Blackberry OS 6.

The cost of this product has been estimated around $500 till date and I hope that it will competing the rest brands to a good extent.
