Rishad Premji has been appointed as the chief strategy officer of Wipro’s IT business. He is the eldest son of Wipro Chairman Azim Premji. Earlier, Rashid Premji was general manager of Wipro’s treasury and investor relations division. As Chief Strategy Officer, he will report to joint CEOs Suresh Vaswani and Girish Paranjpe. According to Suresh Vaswani, the joint CEO, the Premji surname had nothing to do with Rishad’s elevation to this position. Rishad Premji graduated with BA in Economics from Wesleyan University in the US. This included a year abroad at the London School of Economics where he was part of the General Course Program. After graduating, Rishad joined GE Capital’s Financial Management Program (FMP) where he worked in areas like Corporate Treasury, Card Services and Resinsurance. After graduating from FMP, Rishad joined FGIC, a GE company based out of New York in the bond insurance space.
Rishad did his MBA from Harvard Business School (HBS) in 2005. After completing his MBA, he joined Bain & Company in 2005, one of the leading, global consulting organizations based out of their London office, where he was business development executive, handling financial and other allied services.
In 2007, Rishad joined Wipro Technologies, as a Business Head for Special Projects driving new initiatives for the Banking vertical.
“Every man has his aspirations and ambitions. And anyone in the company is willing to work hard he/she can achieve the limits within Wipro,” Suresh Vaswani said.
